May 14, 2008 - Birds are looking great thus far. The quality of birds sent are super this year.  No problems. May 28, 2008 - Just over 400 in the loft. There are still a few breeders who have not shipped.  Those breeders who have not shipped have few a few more weeks.  I start pulling flights/pox in mid June.  So far, no sick/injured birds.  Super!!!

June 8, 2008 - We are full.I am just waiting for a few more breeders to send birds. The overall health is great! The first 250 birds had their flights cut over the weekend. Over 400 are settled.

June 19,2008 - A hand inventory was done this past week. All birds thus far have had their flights cut. The stats for the loft are 7 missing in settling, 2 birds in health bay. There are still a few breeders who have not sent in yet. We are still waiting for them. For those concerned, this last bunch will not be mixed with the others. Training will start last week of August, weather permitting. All birds in the loft have been pushed in the air for several weeks.
A good friend of ours, Peter Van Raamsdonk, has passed away. He was a close friend and I spoke with him every few months and to learn what the latest was in Europe. He was known for his expertise in photography. He took bird photos of most of the best lofts for the last two decades throughout the world. I visited him many times where he showed me what he thought were the best lofts of Belgium and Holland. I had a lot of good laughs with him. He died at the age of 57. I will truly miss him.

June 26,2008 - One more week to go! We are waiting for 4 more teams.  The first group of birds had there flights pulled and were poxed.  The 2nd batch will be next week.  The flights are pulled according to their molt.  Yes, all birds are looked at indivdually a few times before pulling.  Lots of work!!
July 3, 2008 - That's all, no more birds expected. We have just over 500 birds. As previously mentioned, the first group has been shut down. The second group was done a few days ago. The last 40 birds will be done within the next few weeks. Mailouts will be sent later this month. All the birds are doing great! To all the breeders in the California Classic, thank you! You breeders are the best in the country. Only the best fly for #1!!!!
July 5, 2008 - All birds have arrived and entries are now closed. Thank you to all the breeders in the California Classic!
